Tried unplugging the glass fiber ont, other network was in use within seconds, no video stream interruption, switched back to main network after ont booted up again. Neat.

This is the network cabinet, doesn't look nice 🙃.

Port 0 is shared network which goes to the USB modem, ont goes to mt2500 wan port, lan port goes to port 3 which is in the middle of the house, a fritzbox on it, which goes into port 4, which goes to port 7 in the farthest room for a mesh WLAN repeater.

By now I kinda want to swap the fritz with glinet solutions but that fritz crap was expensive 🙃.

After restarting tethering, it now works as fallback, nice. Mobile network usage would be an alternative option via the usb port.

Ooooh nice now it got a little hacky with the GL.iNet MT2500A, I added an usb to rj45 modem thingy wirth rtl85something chip, added the modules to openwrt, then I've "if up" the interface and it worked. The only issue is that the tethering interface is not used as fallback but as main path, so I had to disconnect it via gli interface, on issue i can just reconnect via gui.

What did I put into the usb ethernet? The houses shared glass fiber from a different provider, has 500mbit/s as backup.

I managed to get the GL.iNet MT2500A to talk to my ONT and passing through traffic to my Fritzbox and using Adguard home

GL.iNet MT2500 arriving tomorrow, checking if i can set up a reverse vpn so i can open ports towards my home network, my isp is blocking any way of port opening. Probably scared of hosting services via their private glass fiber 500mbit up connection.

In the process of moving minio to a 5tb hdd VM so there is more space for images.

Damn each day running the second server on windows 11 *only* for game servers and a barely working windows coreDNS, I tell myself that I could do so much more with a Linux server. For example moving minio over there. I wouldn't dare running minio on a machine that could consider doing an update randomly, breaking minio.

@dukethinrediv you could also say that here, ideal for testing powerline, circuit 1 year old and isolated, 2 appliances connected for constant slight interference. Using AVM my average dipped from 250mbit to 180mbit plain and simple🫠. That AVM thing even had the courage to tell me "yep I have 700mbit bandwidth between the two adapters".

Geil, wenn man den TP-Link und den AVM Powerline Zuhause vergleicht stellt man schnell fest, dass das teurere AVM Produkt wesentlich schlechter abschneidet in reinem Bandbreite Vergleich. Aber Hauptsache Testsieger bei PC Welt, dem Verein glaube ich gar nichts mehr.
