I hear you on the wider neck. My wrist gets so tired playing on mine because the neck is so small.

Do you use standard CGDA or one of the droney tunings? What breakthroughs did you have on the instrument and what helped lead you there?

Karine Polwart is the only tenor player I know of off the top of my head but once you leave the sound you start to hear them more often. My YouTube feed sends me vids of electric tenor which sounds interesting...

What are folks using for their drop-in google replacement?

Mailbox.org seems to offer reasonable plan for... less than a paid google account? Really?

What's your experience with them? What other things have you tried?

How old is too old to learn a bowed instrument?

I pick up instruments pretty quick in general... learned tenor (viola) guitar this year, blow a passable bugle, translated recorder skills to the tin whistle... I can carry a tune on the bucket bass

Been thinking of taking up the fiddle lately.

After 45 years of playing the guitar over my right leg I switched to left leg for a day, like a classical guitar player, and I am sold. My wrist feels better, which I hoped for.

But what I didn't expect was how much better my *breathing* is in this position. It's made my singing much stronger and more expressive.
