the distro model of linux is really great, you can actually have people vet packages coming from upstream to some extent. and this gets even better when the distro maintainers are the ones doing security policies. vetting unnecessary permissions etc. i don't know of a distro that packages strict security policies the same way flatpak does, but i feel like this is a very good idea

the upstream-only model flatpak has a place, but packages should eventually be in distros and vetted by distro packagers

software ethics is about more than just software freedom

would be nice if codeberg had a policy to ban projects stating they used genai or are obviously promoting it

banning genai in general would cause false positives and kick innocent projects out. but it is definitely possible to draw the line at promotion of the tools

still depressing to see people push their genai shit to codeberg, though

in general, this might be a better way to enforce anti-genai policies
