i feel like remote attestation is one of the biggest threats software freedom has at the moment. this means drm like google play integrity

it doesn't matter that something is free software if you can't realistically modify, build it and use it yourself. even if all of this is legally allowed, it's cryptographically banned

any app you rely on could use remote attestation apis in the system to reject being run on your system, even if it's free software. and you can't even go against it, because it's cryptographically "secured" like that. i feel weird even calling the app free software under these circumstances, there is no freedom left

all software should be independently implementable and usable without asking any authority

this even eclipses other unethical shit like generative models (yes, lumi is actually saying there is something worse than genai)

here i am also thinking of the whole EU digital identity wallet effort, which they say is "open source", but there is no way you can realistically make your own implementation and it will refuse to run on your system if it's not one of the approved ones
