@cstross A week or two ago I saw a really good thread about this on Bluesky, and the main point was more or less the same, but! it made me think about 80s media. Because while the 80s were brown and dirty, the 80s music, films etc. did lean into the pastel neon vibe. E.g. in Blade Runner everything is blue and black, except for the market, which has pastels, neons and fluorescent umbrellas. It was code for "recreation of the kind your mum wouldn't approve".

@makryfa @frost Obviously no idea what actually happened, but it sounds like the kind of blunder I sometimes make when I'm overworked + depressed + feeling worse due to the weather. The brain just shotcricuits at random and I learn about it a month later.

German Grammar is very regular, logical, user-friendly, I like it.

German vocabulary is also fine, especially given the number of German loanwords in Polish. The compound words are, again, logical, very often I know what a word means because I recognize its components.

Someone should make a cyberpunk game with actual 80s aesthetics:
- wooden paneling everywhere
- thick cigarette smoke under the ceiling
- that grey plastic that turned yellow over time
- car seats covered in cheap fake leather
- monochrome displays (green for hackers, amber for corporats)
- jeans

@w7voa There's also the term "anglojęzyczny", which literally means "English-language", but it means anything that's done in English, e.g. the English-language news channel of the Polish state TV. "Anglosaski" implies cultural context.

@w7voa This is a mistranslation of a term that's in common use in some Slavic languages (in Polish it's "anglosaski"), which literally translates into "Anglo-Saxon", but really means "English-speaking".

My team has just had a successful milestone delivery, and the most often voiced expression of relief is that the publisher saw it and did NOT come up with a ton of their own ideas.

I don't think this says a lot about this particular publisher, but I do think it says a lot about the usual (and not very healthy) relationships between stakeholders in a creative industry such as video games.

I'm having a lot of feelings about "Citizen Sleeper", and the biggest of them is that I'm angry. Specifically, I'm angry with myself, because I could make this game, or something like it, and I didn't. A game like this is within the means of a solo dev who has some industry friends with matching skills. But it just never occurred to me.

Other than that, a really nice game. A dystopian-yet-realistic vision of the future, but most characters are NOT assholes. I needed something like this.

Personally, sometimes I just wish there was the option to evict.

@Brendanjones @Jfrites @linus Confession: I live in Warsaw, but I work in Hamburg. Eight hours by train (with a very convenient transfer in Berlin). :-) Remote work is a bit of a miracle. Still, I do miss my team, they're nice.

@linus One thing that makes me wonder is: are there really places in the world where typical work commute is 90 minutes? I live in a city of two million people and my worst ever was 75 minutes. 40 minutes is what I'd call typical.
