Like no, 1 min is not enough time to provide any nuance on any topic. At best you're getting an oversimplified, useless factoid and at worst you're missing crucial details and end up believing in potentially harmful misconceptions.

It's scary that people are actually unwilling to spend 10 minutes learning something because "it could have been condensed down to 1 minute, I respect my time and brain too much to bother with this"

Like just one of my uni classes takes 90 min and I need a whole semester of such classes to even learn the very *basics* of a subject. No you're not getting ANY value from 1 min no matter how condensed the content is..

So do rice cookers actually cook rice quicker or is sushi rice still gonna take like 40 minutes to cook? I'd probably make onigiri a lot more often if it didn't take so fucking long just to make some snacks

Deodorant as a concept is kinda wild cause like for 99.9% of human history we kinda just smelled like humans and no one was particularly bothered by it and then suddenly there's a strong societal pressure to buy a whole ass product regularly to prevent it??

I mean I know perfume has existed for a long while but afaik it was mostly a product for the rich who didn't believe in personal hygiene and was meant to mask the delightful scent of not showering for a month, not some mild sweat accumulated since the morning shower.

It's insane how C418 went from casually making music which he thought wasn't even particularly good right around the time when Minecraft was in early development to composing one of the most iconic, beautiful and timeless video game soundtracks of all time. (Also for those of you who don't know he's been releasing a bunch of bangers since then that tend to get way less attention and I recommend checking some of his newer stuff out too. Njion cooking arc 2: electric asparagus

It's absolutely wild that a Newag Dragon 2 freight locomotive, the most powerful freight loco in Poland built in 2018, is only slightly more powerful when it comes to how much cargo it can pull than the ET22, originally built in the early 70s (3,200 tonnes vs 3,150 tonnes)

Disclaimer: yes I'm aware that modern freight locomotives offer a lot more than just raw power and that there are countless factors that affect a loco's performance in practice. I'm just in awe at how very powerful this old-school loco is and how well it performs even today.

Train nerds of fedi: are there benefits to using a diesel-hydrodynamic transmission over a diesel-electric one for freight locomotives? How about railcars and DMUs? I mean you're still gonna need to generate electricity so why not just use electric motors?
