Since I’m on the subject of musicians named after films Xiu Xiu is name after “Xiu Xiu The Sent Down Girl” which is available with subs on YT. I saw this film one night while killing time at the Ritz at the Bourse in Philly while waiting for my then girlfriend to come in via the other side of the state on Greyhound. I can’t see the name without that memory coming back to me.

The band Endeavor were from NJ and the singer went on to form the equally incredible rock and roll unit named Burnt By The Sun. The group is named after an incredible Russian film about Stalin’s purges. YT link is the film in Russian but with no English subs. The films subs aren’t hard to locate and neither is the full film of one looks in the right spot. It’s four dollars to stream on most platforms if you so choose and it’s very worth viewing if you have not.
