i've grown kinda lax with my content warning etiquette over the years but this most recent clusterfuck only shows me how important they are

because goddamn is being bombarded with this horrific news 24/7 without even a moment to prepare BAD for my mental health

anyways yeah you should be putting cw's on posts about the current trans genocide happening in the united states

trans people, we're all so tired of hearing about it. it hurts every time. we are painfully acutely aware of what is happening

i don't think forcing this news on people is particularly helpful for anybody

the people who don't give a shit won't care either way and the people who are affected by it just get burned out and spiral from all the bad news

content warnings are fundamentally about consent, about giving people the option to engage or not with your content and to do so at their own discretion

and that's very important, especially now

anyways yeah there's an active ongoing genocide against trans people happening in the united states and elsewhere, with a shitload of laws being passed attempting to criminalize our very existence and push us out of public life. and next to nobody besides trans people are fucking talking about it

might as well hashtag this thread #TransGenocide too

also, just boost trans peoples' crowdfunding/mutual aid requests in general

even the ones for stuff like surgery or hair removal or whatever

being trans is fucking expensive and trans people tend to be poor as fuck

and for some of us dysphoria can be a huge pain and we deserve comfort as much as anyone else

if you'd like to actively seek out posts like this to boost

there are a few hashtags you can follow and/or browse

#TransCrowdFund and #MutualAid being the two big ones

also obviously consider donating if you're in a position to do so

any amount can make a huge difference

i didn't mention that in the main post because character limit and also i wanted to stick to something more widely applicable but yeah

i don't care what weird ideas capitalism has implanted in your head about "begging" but now more than ever mutual aid will be important

you need to see past the indoctrination and help your fellow humans

there's nothing wrong with asking for help when you're in need, especially in times like these
