@Daojoan sorry for just randomly messaging you. But you were boosted into my home feed right after I had a good cry about a tech subject that is near and dear to me. And I saw your profile. But.. do you know any tech writers who cover USA election machines critically who are still writing about it? I want to reach out to them or read what they say. Thanks

There are hundreds of people and groups who do much what I describe weekly on the web to run advertisements and spam. it’s just blind luck nobody tried yet?

Hex Batch (hexbatch@mastodon.online)'s status on Sunday, 18-Feb-2024 06:21:23 JST Hex Batch @mariusor @monsieuricon what happens if I or someone else registers thousands of new instances? Is this not hard to do? And what stops me from making tens of thousands each and day and flooding all the servers with advertisements? Each would have different and valid credentials. What if I had access to hundreds of thousands of ips from a botnet?

Hex Batch (hexbatch@mastodon.online)'s status on Thursday, 28-Dec-2023 23:42:20 JST Hex Batch @cstross i speak for the tech bros. It’s safe because none of them will see it. I understand that the money should go to fight global warming. And for sure many are assholes who don’t deserve so much wealth. And many projects will have bad effects. And yet I too grew up on the same toxic and heady mix of stories and it’s hard for me to let go. There are thousands of stories and you cherry pick a few to fit your argument. But for each example I can counter it with its opposite.
