@Moon @icedquinn I was fingering at the mode of production of FOSS at large, where the software is functionally collectively owned by the whole community of programmers, as it is publicly available, is mostly produced not for profit, but for need and by distributed community of developers

@icedquinn @Moon @olmitch Coops in general try to apply in smaller scale the socialist mode of production in the sea of capitalism, but as a rule of thumb they're at disadvantage compared to the bourgeois buisnesses, even just to obtain funding

@icedquinn @olmitch Imo, the DDR and USSR allowed small buisnesses to operate too, but in neither case was one the dominant form of production.

The state is a necessary component of capitalism once it has developed past it's earliest baby stage. Without a state private property becomes hardly enforceable, not to mention access to the market, creating of new markets via conquest, etc. Taxation it's only the rent the state requires to function.
