So ends another #Monsterdon with the masterpiece, #TheRaven1963. Our thanks to @Taweret for hosting, and for everyone lurking and posting. And remember #Monsterdoners: He was the victim of some kind of diabolic. mind. control. (Lenore)
@Impossible_PhD My guess is banks will suddenly start pushing more for private loans through them - both for students and parents, who will likely be encouraged to draw on the equity in their houses, and if you can't (or won't) well, <shrug> guess college isn't for you, and you'll have to get one of those great factory jobs the tariffs created. 🙄 Intentional or not (and I know which I believe it is), this all fits into the grab for privatizing everything and for controlling the "types" who are allowed to be educated and what that education looks like.
Those who don't need loans will still be able to afford any school they want, and those who are lucky enough to still get loans will be limited to the schools they can afford with the limit - likely community and some state colleges - which keeps the "riff-raff" out of the schools the Haves think they deserve to control. They will use these to continue making money, connections, and deals, except now there will be no one to voice objections or publish contradictory research or opinions. In addition, those schools will continue to get the lion's share of donations because the Have's will continue to support their or their kids' alma maters ... as long as long as the universities' presidents and boards stay in line.
The Regressives would like to go back to the time when the wealthy attended the funded and laudable institutions, the middle class kept to those colleges that taught trades, and women had their own colleges that taught acceptable career options like nursing and teaching, which they would give up once they married anyway.
They can't win the war of ideas, so they are going to silence as many outlets for ideas as they can. It makes me ill.
Hey, #Monsterdon gang, a thought: Medusa's head - even dead - can turn anything living into stone. And Perseus just tossed it into the sea ... where there are LIVING THINGS! The fish there ... stone. Anyone who goes diving/swimming ... stone. I mean, WTF, Perseus? He could have at least put it back in the makeshift bag. Talk about an environmental hazard.
At 6 p.m. I will be joining my #Monsterdon family to watch Piranha. I will be posting a lot of movie-related quips and comments. If you aren’t watching along (and really, you should) and feel it might be too distracting, you might want to mute the following hashtags: #MonsterdonAlert#Monsterdon#piranha1978 and #piranha.
Just returned from picking up my birthday cake, and now I feel I need some Steam deck time. I have done a lot of nothing today, and it has been glorious. Happy #Birthday to me! 🥳🎂🥳
I have a tutoring student who is writing an informational essay on #tigers and their relationship with people. They need to interview some who works or is an expert in that field. Interview can be an email exchange. Does anyone know anyone who works with #tigers? Boost = okay. Thanks!
I get paid to warp young minds. In my spare time (HAHAHA), I am consuming stories (books, movies, series, graphic novels, games) or writing them. Sci-Fi and Shakespeare nerd. #LoveIsLove #OwlsAreAwesome
