Still not as bad as the security "professional" who suggested that the CTO for a company should be "shot through the lungs" for a minor security breach that they took a couple of months to fix.

badambassador (badambassador@social.vivaldi.net)'s status on Friday, 01-Mar-2024 01:06:24 JST badambassador @neil the amount of times I've heard "but people will say no and then we won't have any data"
Yes, that's generally how it works. Why don't you use another lawful basis. Oh, you can't meet any of them? Maybe take the hint that you shouldn't be doing what you're doing then.

badambassador (badambassador@social.vivaldi.net)'s status on Friday, 09-Feb-2024 03:32:24 JST badambassador @AlisonW @neil @CenturyAvocado @revk @bloor I do have children. I don't want any parental controls that I can't manage myself, as I know what's appropriate and what isn't appropriate for my kids better than my ISP does.
Obviously not the same for all parents, but this is why we should have choice rather than blanket imposition.

badambassador (badambassador@social.vivaldi.net)'s status on Tuesday, 09-Jan-2024 18:14:29 JST badambassador @neil it feels like a distinct and separate loss of control to me. With other models where your data is the product, it's a bit more visible in terms of how it's used and at least conceptually (if not in practice) you can see that you could gain some individual control.
With LLMs, you don't know where your data is, somehow. It's all part of an amorphous blob and if you want your data removed, you're somehow painted as being unreasonable because the design of the system doesn't allow for that.
