I've put off trying to learn Ableton for so long because I dreaded learning a new DAW. The last one I used was Acid Pro 6 and I haven't had Windows as my main OS in YEARS.

Anyhoo, I started replicating an Acid Pro project into Ableton yesterday and I'm happy about figuring out how to do the semi-complicated things in my original projects.

This exercise is also to get me back into music production mode. I've been writing lyrics for years, just haven't made music to go with them.

In a past life I was an aspiring rapper/producer trying to make ends meet with retail jobs. Life happened and I couldn't see a path to sustainability with the music I like making.

Coding? Ah yeah, people get paid the big bucks for that!

The Clipse and Tyler, the Creator have inspired me to have another go at my original dream. I also wanted to be a DJ so the new Macrowave app is awesome.

All the pieces are coming together.

Think I just realized that I’m deadline driven. Without deadlines, my projects languish, I get bored, and move onto the next.

I need to go back to using the pomodoro web app I found too.

This basically confirms my suspicions that:

— Firefox OS would've worked
— Mozilla leadership has always been interested in chasing fads
— Letting smart, motivated people work on cool shit is necessary to create the future.
