@thomasfuchs Sounds like the battery might be old / have bad chemistry issues. You can check in system profiler to see how many charge cycles. I believe the system is supposed to warn at 5%, but if it’s not a chemistry issue, it could be estimating battery life incorrectly and may power down at random.

You might also want to do a battery diagnostice with Apple Support.
