This is really the first case of accountability of law enforcement that we have seen in Washington State, and it’s only possible because of i-940 which passed in the wake of the Black Lives Matters protests.

Both the Seattle Times and KUOW are running big stories today about the just released Bumbershoot lineup. That’s cool, but Bumbershoot is months away.

When I quit working for Amazon in 2011 the HR person tried to get me to sign a non-compete agreement in the exit interview because “due to a loophole you never signed yours”. The ‘Loophole’ was that I was originally hired as a customer service agent in 1999 and was not required to sign one, and when I moved into corporate job a year later they never presented me with one. Needless to say, I told them to get bent.

There is an argument in the media that the rest of the House GOP is being held hostage by 5 extremist members. If they are hostages, they have a severe case of Stockholm syndrome. They could always work with Democrats on bi-partisan budget that could pass, and on a moderate speaker with bi-partisan support and just ice the extremists out. They are willing hostages and would never do this. They are all part of the plan to prevent the government from functioning at all.

This is a closeup of the shoreline at Lake Quinalt with some of the tiny shells scattered about there. I often have a thought when looking at the random arrangement of rocks and detritus on a beach that the beauty is in the true perfect randomness, and that if I were to move a single piece even just a bit it would ruin it.
