We're a fairly small operation in a handful of datacenters in Northern America and Europe, but we've got room to grow. New servers will be going online this weekend to assist. Our mastodon instance is hosted in Seattle Washingon.

If there is one thing that Mastodon has done for everyone is that it has liberated us from a centralized walled garden.

You are now free and that is really important.

Did Twitter have multiple servers? Yes! We just didn't know that it did because it was centralized that made it irrelevant.

Servers add more to the sense of the "community of communities" which is fundamental to the INTERNET.
