I just found out that the Internet Archive has all of the Windows 3.x shareware games I remember from my childhood, playable in-browser via DosBox. The nostalgia is so strong that I feel slightly sick.

you have to laugh, really.

It's very weird to have been indoctrinated as a kid with "nobody will ever do anything to help you and you shouldn't ever ask" and then to hit my thirties and find that actually nah, lots of people will very happily help you out if you need it.

Thousands of power outages in Northern Ireland. Gusts up to 70 mph where we are. We're watching one of the streetlights outside sway back and forth (at a safe distance from the windows). Quite hypnotic, actually.

A colleague just apologised to me for accidentally messing up my pronouns once yesterday. It was a brief but sincere apology with no hand-wringing.

So now I know that colleague respects me and is safe for me to be around.

Cis people: take note.
