@evan my adoption was a result of the same systemic disasters that built residential schools, denied federal voting rights into the 1950s, and actively worked towards genocide for generations.

I too say never again. No apartheid, no progroms, no ghettos, no ethnic cleansing.

@nyquildotorg @evan I remember that. I can’t say I entirely disagree but having thought about it a lot since I believe that I do want an option to “orphan” someone’s comment, reply, mention.

It shouldn’t be on an individual to engage with a troll and/or bad-actor just to avoid implicitly condoning terrible material tacked onto something else.

Nation states have many responsibilities - inside and outside of their borders

And a people are not their government which is why collective punishment is a war crime. It is not bad, it is a responsibility to hold one’s government to account. Where you can’t be self governed it is incumbent upon nation states to uphold their responsibilities to you
