My question is: If I am invited to present at a Zoom event or booked as an interpreter for an event happening on Zoom, how can I ensure that the organisers have disabled these options?

@ShravanVasishth @dbellingradt Students who don't use adblockers (which seems to be most of them) get ads when they are asked to watch our videos (didn't used to be the case for educational videos but #YouTube changed that a while back). I find that quite problematic. Also, they then get suggestions for further videos, some of which are really quite horrific.

@academicchatter @ehud I like to give students 1-2 minutes to discuss something with the person sat next to them before I ask the entire group. I find more students volunteer to essentially repeat what they just said to their partner to the entire group then if I ask without the first round. Also, I use polls a lot. So I ask a question, display the whole class results and then ask: would someone who answered X like to explain why?

Today I tried to get students to install a piece of software on their personal laptops... 😬 Predictably, it did not go well... 😔 Most students have never installed anything in their lifes – which it totally fine, they're here to learn! More worringly, however, I could not fix one student's problem on #MacOS (Ventura 13.6): they get this error message even after successfully running the command >sudo xattr -cr /Applications/BootCaT.app. Any ideas what else we can do? #DigitalLiteracy
