@perillamint@tnt is working for quite some time on something related; its surprisingly hard and there's very little FOSS in this area. With spandsp and his hacks/fixes we can get V.22/V.22bis(1200/2400 bps) working, but with unreliability. His primary use case is driving an AMR reserviert card (MC97) via an icE40 FPGA. So not sip but actual telephony audio interface. Once that works, it should be possible to attach SIP/RTP.
The #38C3 c3isdn phonebook is made available via fax polling. Once we're operational on-site, you can poll the phonebook from your fax machine or faxmodem from extension number 919982 @c3fax
@__michaelg@drscriptt passive PCI backplanes are not so common these days, but indeed it's a nice idea. Makes me think of industrial computers 25 (and more) years ago...
@c3isdn
@funkylab@aka_pugs thanks for making me aware of this thread. I did read about SMDS before, but I think it was a US thing only. Would be very interesting to operate it again if anyone still has some equipment. The T1 transport is easy to carry between homes of retro collectors via some form of TDMoIP, like we do in OCTOI. #retronetworking
Danke!
@vitaut earlier this week I had one that went three layers deep this way! Started with “JavaScript sorts a table badly” and went all the way to “our C++ sql library needs changes”
@ChaosPost@c3isdn@manawyrm I traditionally use TELIX on DOS, or RIPterm for RIP graphics. Not sure if there are any good FOSS terminal Programm for DOS by now. TELIX is what I used back in the day...
@nblr@Badscrew I recently acquired (IIRC) a batch of 7 of them, haven't really explored much yet. Bonus: They have this totally unsuspicous sticker on them:
