      I have decided to shut down my #mastodon instance, and all my public facing web services. This will happen in 3 months time, on November 29, 2026, to allow everyone to backup and migrate. The reason for this is that I can no longer trust: - the #Linux kernel - #Debian - rails - most #Foss projects Additionally, I'm basically out of storage, it is unaffordable to purchase more, and no one is interested in donating to help. Our bastion of free computing has been poisoned by fascist gen ai slop, and basically NONE of it can be trusted anymore. It's impossible to vet slop from an ecosystem that is welcoming of it. This makes it nearly impossible to update my systems, which makes it harder to pretend it's even remotely secure. I'm fucking devestated - gutted by what has happened to computing, and I just do not have the resources to keep fighting. Fuck all you #LLM boosters into the sun. May you learn the folly of your way and DO SOMETHING TO FIX IT!

    stopping your Mastodon instance since Linux, Debian or other FOSS projects accept vetted AI submissions feels like a moralizing bait post and a strange hill to die on.

    99% of companies you interact with daily are reliant on vibe-coded and genuinely bad infrastructure even without AI (IBM, SAP, ServiceNow....). avoiding companies that use AI is impossible.

    my 4090 crashed 3 times in last few days under load. Kimi K3 suggests replacing PSU. I hope it's just the PSU and not the card itself 🙏

    the official pen plotter plugin for Inkscape of the Chinese plotter sends the SVG to an online API on a suspicious domain that returns the G-Code. I didn't know, they didn't say anywhere. only troubleshooting an issue did GLM-5.2 tell me about it

    I received the UnaTex 3.0 A3 pen plotter and without knowing how to work with it, giving all the Windows / Mac software to GLM 5.2, it figured out in 10 minutes how to convert the Inkscape plugin to a test Python script and could draw a Mandala on Arch Linux - all without my intervention.
