@dansup I second @pedrosanta in recommending @penpot .

I've been using Figma for years now, and they're slowly -but surely- enshittifying the product. Paywalling the most useful functions one by one, like editor accounts and dev mode.

I've made the move to Penpot few months ago, and while I miss some functions like component variations, I feel a lot better supporting/using, and advocating for an open source product that you can self-host, and which has a far more ethical governance.

Yes, I meant small apps, developed for FB/IG/X that the user authorizes to access their friends/follower list, select a bunch of them or all of them, to send out DM's with the invite links.

The public post might be a good solution for those with thousands of following, although the post won't reach all of them, it would reach enough of them.

But for people with 100's of friends, a public post won't be as sufficient as a DM.

As a new user of Mastodon, I'd say my main concern now would be: how to DM my friends/followers with an invite link, a message explaining my reasons for making the move, encouraging them to follow the invite, and the links to these explaination videos.

I'm no techie, but I suppose some app(s) that automate the sending of DMs would encourage faster adoption in greater numbers.
