Been really getting into Game Boy modding and repair. Took a couple of broken GBCs, fixed em up and gave em a full makeover.

The new IPS screens steal the show, but I also added new buttons/pads and new speakers.

@TheSteve0 @evan My instance has two active users, and it feels like things work well if you put the work in. Relays are helpful. There are definitely parts of the fediverse I do not see, though.

@evan Personally, I think a better on-ramp to the fediverse might be your city or municipality.

Cities could use it to communicate important messages and promote local events. I think it would help harbour a sense of local community, something social media does not do well.

Also, unlike mobile phone companies, they can actually be held accountable by the public if we don't like the way things are being run.

@sundogplanets I was listening to a piece on NPR the other day talking about the mitochondria, and that the endosymbiosis between it and cells was such an unlikely event that if there is other life in the universe, it's probably microbial.

Does that count as homeostatic awakening? It's not that they've moved to a lower energy state, it's that they never got the energy to become larger in the first place without something like the mitochondria.
