@evan I have thought about doing it but the problem is, my instance would be so small that I am not sure how discoverable it will be and how much it will pull in from the fediverse

DLink (dlink@posthat.ca)'s status on Sunday, 25-Feb-2024 05:16:53 JST DLink @TheSteve0 @evan My instance has two active users, and it feels like things work well if you put the work in. Relays are helpful. There are definitely parts of the fediverse I do not see, though.

Evan Prodromou (evan@cosocial.ca)'s status on Sunday, 25-Feb-2024 07:41:25 JST Evan Prodromou @DLink @TheSteve0 sorry to hear that. I think of a social network as a way to connect with people you care about. I don't think it makes any sense to try to see the whole fediverse. I should have said it in a nicer way.

Evan Prodromou (evan@cosocial.ca)'s status on Sunday, 25-Feb-2024 12:40:23 JST Evan Prodromou @TheSteve0 I don't understand this consideration. Social networks are about following people you are interested in. Nobody has to discover your server. You can follow accounts from a single-user server just fine.

TheSteve0 (thesteve0@data-folks.masto.host)'s status on Sunday, 25-Feb-2024 14:00:37 JST TheSteve0 @evan My experience being on a smaller host is that I don't see much of the # activity that is on other servers. There are messages I know exist and I can search for them but they don't come up on my instance. I may have the tech wrong but I am sure I am not getting all the messages for tags.
