@thibaultmol Mastodon DOES support full text search if you install ElasticSearch on your instance (we plan to do that eventually)

@thibaultmol I think fedisearch was an interesting idea, but it did kind of lead to basically DOSing instances with the flood of requests it made.

So yeah, if an instance is full of shitlords that harass our members and moderators don't care we will defederate with instances. Some instances which don't align with the rules of our own we will more gradually handle moderation for (eg. some instances we block media from or silence instead)

In general, I don't want this instance to become one where you walk on eggshells, but at the same time I don't want this to turn in to a shit fest where harassment flies back and forth over, in the grand scheme of things, stupidly trivial things.

I generally want to handle moderation on a case by case basis, but holy shit some instances are just made of absolute assholes lol.

I hope we won't end up having a massive de-federation list. Most of the fediverse is pretty chill, just gotta watch out for these cringe fringe instances with dumb cunts on them

@frostyfrog Though we'll have stricter entry requirements than your instance has, so if you're okay with it, we may direct people who don't fit our entry criteria towards your instance =w=

@frostyfrog It's definitely not better than twitter if your livelihood depends on discoverability. We're also planning to basically be a single home for these users since a lot of them are *not* receptive to having to make multiple accounts across instances. Which is sad, but it is what it is. Hopefully they'll warm up over time.

@frostyfrog Mastodon art has terrible discoverability, and very little interaction. Most posts I see there have maybe 1 or 2 likes, that's not great...

@riscv64 Since this server will always be on a signup form basis where we individually approve users I don't think it'll be *too* much of a problem, system will only work on the local timeline and we can figure out punishing users who try to spam the system

@frostyfrog We are ready to scale this up to be a potentially quite large instance. So it's mainly with that in mind we're thinking of features like this =w=

@frostyfrog Eh, once this server has enough users those timelines will stop being useful due to the flood of posts being made, having a recommendation system that can sort through it and recommend posts will help artists and such on our platform get noticed easier.

@xz I know it's not important to a lot of instances, as freedom to them, they won't have to use our fork. But this instance focuses on VTubers and VTubing adjacent people like artists and such. Discoverability is a must there.

@xz of course, it'll be optional lol. And will be local to this instance, granted most people will be using it since it's important for this instance and its users in particular.
