@7666@comp.lain.la True. I should get myself a VPS or convert my spare desktop into a server ASAP. Here's hoping that I succeed this time. - I realized that Domain.com (those motherfuckers) don't actually let you use your domain with anything else besides their own hosting - I decided to use a domain provider that's actually decent instead - I got an ethernet cable, so now my spare PC is now connected to my router - I got SSH working before
@mer@cdrom.tokyo Huh, is PBR really that good? Ik I'm still too young to drink (even as a full-grown adult), but it'd be nice to see whether or not they'd be good.
Uhhhhh ... 2023 has been the year of me leaving communities I join. :neofox_flush: - Left a bad Pleroma instance (Got into Misskey-based software) - Left Odysee (Radicalized into the left) - Left FurAffinity (Design was outdated) - Left Newgrounds (Couldn't find much good artists amongst the dudeart circlejerk) - Left Tumblr (Never got into its shitty algorithm-based UI) - Left Minidisc.tokyo (Foundkey died) - Left Berserker.town (I realized the admin was a centrist incel) I hope I don't have to move two more times. Kitty.social only has to move from Firefish to another Misskey fork, and Wetdry.world just needs to apologize to one of their users. Here's hoping that happens, and I'm optimistic that it will. :neofox_woozy:
@Moon@shitposter.club I guess it's mostly because Masto marketed itself as the "healthy" social media. A lot of its promotion (such as in Masto's official video) centers around how it creates a tightly-knit community and is more ethical than centralized social media. Older people, who seem to have a less personal relationship with the internet and thus have less fun with it, may seek to join a platform that mitigates the harmful effects of most social media. Younger people, on the other hand, seem to be more interested in whether or not a particular platform sucks ass or not. In my experience, I've noticed a lot of my fellow Gen-Z'ers on Fedi fuck around with emoji reactions, Misskey Markdown, and such. Still, I've seen a lot of them appreciate how much better Fedi is when it comes to community than shitnexus platforms like Twitter then, X now, and Instagram. It's just that it's not their main priority. I agree with them. Almost anything with supportive admins and no algorithms would be healthy, so we should now be striving to make our communities fun.
@Moon@shitposter.club@adiz@soc0.outrnat.nl Ehh? I'm not sure if that's the case. For instance, AI took decades to develop into the state it is now, and even then, there's still numerous aspects of this technology to improve on (self-driving problems, hallucinations) before it can truly surpass the skill level of many human workers. Education, on the other hand, usually takes four years if you're reaching for a Bachelor's Degree, and about one or two if you plan to get a certification or Associate's Degree.
@mer@cdrom.tokyo Wonder if a libre (aka open-source) version of Wrapped is possible. Ik it's a stupid feature anyways, but the real problem with Spotify's implementation was that Spotify does the usual cappie L. Otherwise, it would be neat to see your listening habits without some asshole seeing dollar signs on you.
@adiz@soc0.outrnat.nl I feel that our country should invest in reeducating people affected by changing technology, so they wouldn't just be left without the ability to earn work. Instead, we can keep them in the workforce where they can serve others, even after technology has taken over their old careers.
Sadly, I'm not sure if they'll consider that option, though.
@alex@gleasonator.com Holy shit, that's something Syuilo hasn't implemented in Misskey yet. You would've expected software where you could go ham on the formatting and react to something with any emoji would also literally let you play a Gameboy game from your Fedi instance. All of Japan will be jealous of the people using your software now...
My sister and brother just got a new TV, and it spoke in the welcome screen like a Tomodachi Life character selling their soul and promoting a shitty product on a TV ad. 🥴
Hey! I'm Poppy Farbird, an enby (they/them) furry artist who wants to work with technology. Specifically, I both create artworks of anthros (though they are on my other account) and boost other artists' fascinating works. For technology, I try to integrate open-source projects the best I can. I have Linux on my gaming PC, use software like Codium, Onlyoffice, Krita, and such, and sometimes promote these projects to others. In the future, I also want to support them financially and through commits in their codebase. I'm also trying to get into things like web design and animation. Although I'm both busy with college and poor with time management, I'm already proud to see the progress that I've made (basic 3D modeling, website on Neocities), and hope to go even further in the future. Anyways, it's just nice to be in the Fedi, which has one of the best communities on the internet. Some things to know: 1. Assume all other accounts that seem like me are fake unless I link them here. 2.
