Just... Exploit it until upstream fixes it.
That's the only way I get fixes into Mastodon. Otherwise Eugen just calls me poor in my DMs.

Redditor pass the breakfast question challenge (IMPOSSIBLE)
(Triple-checked with three people and two LLMs, this person did indeed fail to engage the hypothetical I put forth.)
I would pay so much money to shadow/audit an American high school classroom for one day, just to see how these fucking idiots function.
Like what are they teaching them? Are they even trying to teach them anything at all? Or do they just watch dancey videos for 6 hours and go home?
That's kinda why I don't mind there being some onboarding friction with Mastodon/Fediverse... If you can't immediately wrap your head around the idea of @user@domain, you have a home domain and thay different domains can talk...
Maybe learn how to use a fucking computer before you come here.
Technical gatekeeping is best, you can't just market and/or shame it away. Either people understand the basic concepts, or they can't use it and they fuck off back to plebbit or tiktok.

yeah but look at the package list for the DVDs (or USB image, I think they make a 16GB USB image now)
The list is given in order of popularity, that's actually what decides what goes on the disk. It's packages in descending order of popularity until they run out of room.
Open the list, ctrl+f for things you think might not be there because they're niche or whatever. look how high they are on the list.

what's hilarious though is, obviously, she's very very very not woke. she was trans before it was cool to be trans and she really doesn't like that having been co-opted by people like *gestures vaguely at the walled-garden fediverse*
and they hate her because she actually passes *and* doesn't subscribe to the religion
that's why it's very funny when they hit her up and ask "how can you support that shitlord?" and she just sends gamer words back

We lived together until we both didn't have jobs simultaneously. We're trying to find gigs and a place in Chicago so I don't have to live in >Cleveland anymore.
She's in rural (very, very rural) kentucky atm and is very much missing the services that are available in actually populated places. She spends time up here when I find longer contracts that need two people.
To answer your other question, she's a trap, if you didn't figure that out.

Am I the only person who just isn't bothered by ssh brute force?
Your properly-configured sshd should be accepting only key auth. Let randos try all the passwords they want. There is not one. Everything else is gravy. No root login, fail2ban, different port, port knocking... defense in depth is nice and good practice, but the only attack vectors not covered by "it's key auth only" can only be solved by only allowing ssh from internal address space.

This thumbnail is so full of shit I won't be clicking.
I gave WinXP its very own public IPv4 address for an entire month and literally nothing happened. Squeaky clean at the end.

Any processor should be fine, I'd probably be looking at 2x1TB or better for the storage, at least 16GB of memory.
What I really need to do is sit down and actually optimize postgres so I can raise the retention time without raising the time it takes to perform a search. I'd like to have indefinite hashtag search.

oh damn, relays really *are* that busy holy crap that's a lot of statuses
I'm a Linux sysadmin, a Python developer, a comedian, and a FOSS proponent. A clown with a technical background. But above all else, I'm an Ekko one-trick. He means the whole world to me. I'm not ignoring you; Your instance admins probably won't let you talk to me, even if you want to. This is because I don't believe anybody is above criticism. If I don't reply within a day, hit me up on email or from another instance. I shitpost, and I protect Ekko. This is my purpose.
