My success is either *very good* or *very bad* depending on the part of the world or genre of the movie :D

If the notification beep in the Mastodon web interface is driving you nuts with its frequency, you can click the little "settings" icon on the top of the column and, for each type of event, can select whether the sound is played or not, whether it shows in the column (you can just filter likes or boosts out entirely if you like!), and whether it tries to give you a desktop notification.

at identi.ca we called posts "dents"

a french colleague from wikimedia complained this made her think of "teeth", which is what "dents" means in french

now we all use mastodon; the name "mastodon" literally comes from the greek "mastos" (boob) and "odous" (tooth) because some freaky scientist thought the teeth looked like they had nipples

imho this is .... worse somehow once you uncover it :D

oh wow a certain popular masotodon site is very slow today

they probably should've closed registrations some time ago; it's already far too big to be an effective community from what i hear

distributed networks should play to their strengths. scale horizontally with more instance nodes.
