The new #Pachli Current has support for on-device translation.

Here's the behaviour you'll see by default when you use the "Translate" menu on a post.

Helpful if your server doesn't support translation, and can be used to translate posts your server refuses to translate.

Won't be available in the #FDroid and #GitHub releases, as this feature uses the same non-free Google machine learning libraries as the "Warn if you're posting in the wrong language" feature.

(so is 2.15.1, which works around a critical Google bug).

Do you use lists?

Today's #Pachli Current release improves their usability by remembering your reading position in the list, similarly to how it behaves on the Home and Notifications timelines.

Lists can be a great way to move content from some people you follow out of your home timeline and into a dedicated space, and of course, each list can be added to its own tab.

# Markdown in #Pachli Current

#Pachli Current now has experimental support for rendering Markdown in posts.

Markdown is a mechanism for including simple formatting while still being understandable as plain text. The first line of this post is a heading, **this is in bold**, *this is italic*, `this is monospace`.

2. Numbered lists

A couple of things.

1. If you enable this and find a post that doesn't render correctly then **please file a bug that includes a link to the post and a screenshot**.
2. There's no UI for adding Markdown to the posts you create yet. That's coming, maybe in the next release, maybe not.
3. This only acts on the contents of posts. Content warnings, image captions, and account details are not converted. Not sure if they should be or not yet.

To enable this, open `Preferences > Lab experiments`, enable the "**Render Markdown**" option, and restart Pachli.

Then come back and view this thread to see the difference. Or look at the images I've attached to this post that show the previous post with/without the option enabled.

#Pachli 2.10.0 is rolling out now, with new conversation account filters to deal with #harassment.

Just like notification filters you can control what happens when accounts start a conversation with you.

No longer want to see DMs from accounts you don't follow? You can hide them, or put them behind a warning. Ditto for new accounts that might only have been created to harass you.

#Pachli 2.9.2 is now available. This release includes an overhaul of the Tamil translation thanks to a new contributor, and small improvements and fixes while I work on some larger changes that are stabilising in Pachli Current. @grunfink @nowster @justine The Mastodon docs are a bit ambiguous about this. Arguably, if the link header is missing a client could assume it could behave as though it did exist, with the IDs of the first and last items in the returned page.

That might be what snac is doing. For interoperability purposes it's probably better to always return the link header.

I have a test account with 4 statuses in the home timeline.

/api/v1/timelines/home returns all 4 statuses and no link header in the response.

/api/v1/timelines/home?limit=1 returns an array of 1 status, as expected, but is also missing the link header, so can't be paginated.

There are at least two #snac bugs.

I've filed one of them at https://codeberg.org/grunfink/snac2/issues/241 (this also found a Pachli bug where errors during login weren't showing the underlying login error; I've fixed that now, thanks).

The other is the existing https://codeberg.org/grunfink/snac2/issues/164 -- snac doesn't implement https://docs.joinmastodon.org/api/guidelines/#pagination so Mastodon clients can't iterate through timelines to load them a page at a time.

@nowster @justine That's odd. Would you mind creating a test account on your server for me and sending the credentials to team@pachli.app. Then I can diagnose this further.

This screenshot shows how it works for notifications.

I've got the "Show a warning for accounts created in last 30 days" option turned on (this could also be set to "Hide"), so some of the notifications are filtered.

@lauteshirn You mean the same options that are currently controlled by the Preferences > Tabs setting?
