Good article from my man Jeremiah Johnson about MAGA online influencers
This is the core of Trumpism. A strongman rose in America and told weak men that they had been cheated. And they believed him.

#Seattle let's fucking go :lets_fucking_go:
Shout-out to whatever genre of post this is
Vegetable broth is genius. You make vegetable soup and then take the vegetables out, package it, then you put new vegetables in to make a new soup - that's more vegetable per vegetable
@BrodieOnLinux someone show the author of that article this URL
I absolutely see the value in tools like relays and fetch-all-replies, but I think these should be approached with caution as they have the ability to massively increase moderation workload
Not to diminish these tools at all but I hope they don't reduce the demand for improving the ability to hop between instances. An example of this is how trying to like a post on another instance opens a text box that will take you to your home instance where you can like the post (2/2)
A complaint people have about Mastodon is that posts from other instances only show up if someone on your instance interacts with them. Generally that means someone on your instance follows the author, but there are other options
This is undeniably bad UX, but it's also what makes being a small-time #MastoAdmin possible. I am only financially, legally, and ethically responsible for the things my users choose to seek out, instead of every post on the fediverse (1/2)
If #Mastodon had achievements what would they be?
Suggestions welcome
This is neat
@patrickcmiller Adding HTML support to email has to be one of the worst tech decisions ever made
@MastodonEngineering for other #MastoAdmin people out there I want to highlight the new hashtag search functionality
https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/pull/30880
Previously when the 9 o'clock hashtag games rolled around, I'd have to wait for them to show up in the trending tab before I could approve it. Now I can search for it and approve it ahead of time
Behold the Fediverse Instance political Compass
I spent some time trying to come up with ways to effectively communicate instance choice to new users, and I came up with this two-axis system. The horizontal axis is moderation strictness and the vertical axis is how much an instance feels like traditional social media
Does this make sense? Where does your instance land?
Roast my choice and placement of instances in the replies
The bathtub curve, but for tech literacy
Biden: If Trump's stock in his Truth Social company drops any lower, he might do better under my tax plan than his
:rolf:
Literally no mainstream #climate science organization supports the position "we're doomed so just give up" and yet somehow that's a common belief
How did we wind up here? This seems like a catastrophically bad messaging failure
@jalefkowit FOSS has only ever gotten better in my experience. Mastodon, Firefox, Blender, and GIMP for example have all addressed major pain points over the past few years
