look, awful people have correct takes all the time. Jordan Peterson thinks you should clean your room, and you should! Hitler was a vegetarian! Osama bin Laden made some correct points about the American empire! but there are **TONS** of other people who made these same points who aren’t fucking monsters, so when you say “Alex Jones makes a great point,” you’re explicitly endorsing that person, because you could have cited literally anyone else.
is it just me or is YouTube becoming unusable with all the fuckin’ ads? like, no, I am not going to watch two 15sec ads in order to see a 3min clip that I may or may not find interesting.
pretty wild how many people are still over there producing free content for the Nazi website. i get it if your livelihood depends on it or you need to maintain a social group, but people over there who consider themselves activists and progressives are posting about basketball and movies and shit on public accounts. idk man.
if you are posting on Twitter, Elon "anti-white racism is the problem" Musk is using your posts to sell advertising and keep his Nazi website solvent so he can fuck with the next election in the US. it's a straight fuckin' line, i don't know what else to say.
@tokyo_0 it is... ok. but the problem is they are committed to the "some say/others say" school of journalism and when you do that in a political environment of rising fascism, it comes out very, very bad. it's exactly the kind of liberals that open the door to fascism.
@tokyo_0 i haven't listened to the podcast or the story, but there **is** a lot of back-and-forth between certain sectors of "wellness" influencers and QAnon. i think it's surprising to people because they assume QAnon appeals to "conservatives" and yoga/wellness to "liberals" but social media scrambles a lot of categories and conspiracy-minded folks on both sides have ended up in QAnon-adjacent stuff.
@tokyo_0 i guess the problem is the implication that there's something inherent to yoga or Vedic philosophy that would lead to QAnon, but that's obviously not true since most of the adherents are weird millenialist Christians.
incredible that the response of all these journalism outlets has been "we demand to be reinstated," not "Twitter is an unsafe, unstable platform run by an untrustworthy actor with a political agenda and we decline to participate in it further."
@oortville@jaybeas@feditips apparently there are also other non-Mastodon social media instances also connected to the fediverse, but they are much smaller.
