yesterday night I did not install solaris, turns out I only had the source code for sol 8 x86. but I did find out how to unlock the television STB disks that I wanted to wipe and use for the OS (good quality 320GB hitachis). I wont unlock them now but instead go to the shop to buy spare hard disks. I am also not sure whether to go for Solaris 8 or Solaris 11

@niconiconi hm does that mean a 6000/4 km stub on a 50Hz power line with no load would behave like a perfect short?

@xianc78 @Pawlicker @i @mint @foxxy @arcanicanis well, yes, i should have said "treat" instead of "remember", I've went through great hoops to find some lost media on the internet myself

@Pawlicker @i @mint @foxxy @arcanicanis the internet would be much nicer if everyone remembered that once you post something online, it's online, and cannot be purged. I once said "think before you post" but it got called victim blaming 🤷♂️

@dysfun @amolith how the fuck do you take something functionally equivalent to IRC and screw it up so bad?

@dysfun @amolith With IRC, ZNC filling a client with message backlog makes message synchronization across devices a solved problem. The only issue is with hosting media, but this is up to client developers to implement detecting media links and displaying them inline if they want. As for uploading/hosting media, there is a million services which do that and if you wanted to, you could integrate one of the simple file hosts with ZNC server, which runs a HTTP server for serving configuration anyway, and just add a "curl -Ffile@.." functonality to the IRC client.
I was considering setting up matrix but this list of issues convinced me to stick to IRC
