@aral I’m hoping someday we will be able to self-host a mastodon instance on our phones. That would really be decentralization.

@dragestil @lightweight I have never seen local or state governments not get completely fleeced by the SAPs and Oracles of the world.

I assume all the elected officials who sign off have been bribed because there is no other explanation for those contracts getting approved.

But I don’t think I’ve ever seen any in-depth reporting about these situations.

@Bernard @dragestil @lightweight I think FOSS people have a hard time believing someone would waste so much of other people’s money for a bit of ego stroking. But that’s part of the problem, not fully acknowledging and dealing with the real world.

@aral apparently I didn’t state the FOSS thing clearly.

My point was people who believe that technology is the solution to everything without considering how to work well with contributors and their community and how their technology will be used out in the greater world, are idiots.

3) Active X/Twitter user
4) Tech bro, FOSS supporter, or developer who thinks code or AI is the be-all and end-all
