@joebeone I believe TikTok has said that when the app goes dark in the US, it will just be a page that explains the situation and allows data download. I hadn't realized that was a legal requirement, but seems to fit.

I'm not aware of any competing apps that import that data in order to bootstrap accounts elsewhere, but it might be interesting to see. We've never had such a large test of portability where the service isn't just degraded but completely inaccessible.

new question to ask in feature design / deployment reviews:
how many people will be taken away to the concentration camps if this feature is deployed?

@forteller this sounds great! Unfortunately, I can't invest as I'm in the US and Trine only offers that service in EU/EEA countries. I'll stay on the lookout for options in the US.

@evan curious to hear how it goes with Kalmia latifolia. That's such a beautiful flower and interesting tree/shrub. I would love to start several in our neighborhood (as a barrier, instead of metal fencing), but it's often hard to get from nurseries/plant sales and I've heard it's hard to cultivate.

You might already have a legal right to opt out of the sale and share of your data – wouldn’t it be nice for your browser to handle communicating that to all the websites you visit?

The Department of Homeland Security wishes to incorporate by reference Mobile Driver's License standards (ISO/IEC 18013 series) into the rules for TSA and REAL ID, and several states have already implemented compatible IDs. Each ISO standard costs hundreds of Swiss francs to read, and you must agree not to share a copy with anyone else.

How much is it reasonable to have to pay to see the privacy and security details of the basic government infrastructure you rely on?
