Sports ⚽️ Toot: US needs to pull all funding from Men’s soccer and give it to the women’s national team. Let them dudes go back to adult men’s club pay. We are so clueless. Soccer is the poor people’s game, the world over. In this country they’ve turned it into a game for soft and pampered rich kids that can afford bougie travel leagues and special camps and personal coaches. @FlashMobOfOne I didn’t include a specific thread. Referring to a trend I see on mastodon. I don’t want to elicit more criticism from the person that I muted. I guess I sort of just did what I was complaining about 🥴

One big critique I have of the mastodon community. I think some folks just love to make themselves or their community a victim on this free website. If a person I don’t know or follow says they see something racist, sexist, ableist, etc and I reply “I believe you I’m just not seeing it”. That’s an opportunity to point me in that direction to learn. If their response is “you live in a bubble” or “oh so you’re saying ‘x’ doesn’t exist?!” Then you’re just a whiner and attention seeker. Students rightfully want an end to these endless wars, and to halt excess civilian casualties. @FlashMobOfOne Yep. And this isn’t the Vietnam or Iraq protests. Which took place in the country of origin. The notion of divestment is as complicated and misunderstood as the history and politics of the Middle East. Declarations supporting a ceasefire sound good on paper, but coming from an American University? Come on. It’s a noble symbolic gesture. The ceasefire resolution from the UN didn’t do anything.
