@wdlindsy It looks that way. I'm over there. Have been for around 14 months, but it has little to do with politics. I trying for a professional community that just isn't present here, at least not yet.
@wdlindsy I'm not blind to the issues OR the potential problem. It could happen. Very well might. But I survived it before and would probably survive it again. My issue remains that it's currently my only realistic alternative. I love Mastodon, but it doesn't fill the necessary gap for me. I loved Twitter--way back in the day. For a long time it was very effective for what I needed. Perhaps this can be the same, at least for a while. 🤷♀️
A contribution to my own sanity. If it focuses a single moment of helpful thought for anyone else, all the better. Best wishes to all for a #peaceful evening.
I am not leaving here. But, yep, also pursuing more on #Blusky. My limitation here is simple: not enough professional publisher interaction, which I've been trying to jumpstart since forever. I get nowhere. I may be "doing it wrong," but I currently own only so many minutes to spend on All The Things. If any #publishing folks care to connect over there, I'm @wandering-author.bsky.social
I don't pretend to understand what's going on here--or NOT going on here. For me it's mostly just crickets. But for any of my contacts who are scrolling & thinking... here's wishing you a good night from the #GSD crew.... who've already taken to their bunk beds and think it's time for me to turn in. 😴
It's so dreary here that I think it's time to repost some of last year's #Arizona#sunset pics. I need to see them, even if nobody else does. Ahem! At this moment, I'm missing that porch view pretty badly!
Having just added about a dozen words & tags to my filters, maybe I'll be able to scroll some here tomorrow without losing what small amount remains of my mind. I'd say Happy #Friday to all, but it sounds obscene. Perhaps just best to say I hope most of you are sleeping better than I am.
Hey #tech folks. Crap on hashtag filters. Who's gonna invent an image filter so I can see far fewer representations of a certain horrific, smirking, disgusting face?
If it's already 5pm where you are... somebody talk to me, quick! Then maybe I can claim I was confused about the time and hit the gin. Holy cow what a stressful day. 🍸 🥴 I am trapped in a situation with multiple diehard 45 supporters. I may need a gofundme for bail.
📌 📚 In the ongoing effort to give eyeballs options besides election doom-scrolling (😬 🤦♀️) may I say I am (still) incredibly proud of a former student! She is killing it with her recent book. #Writers, DON'T EVER GIVE UP. This #autistic author was never "supposed" to be able to read a book--forget writing one. 💜 Now she's at the very top of the category: "Teaching Students with Developmental & Intellectual Disabilities."
Why does zero delay in returning your ballot matter? Here's how mine is progressing. Mailed to me on 10/9 (I'm told). Didn't receive until 10/19. (Yep, I'm out of town, but that's still a long time.) Returned at an area hub with morning pickup on 10/21. As of this moment on 10/29, it's still drifting out there somewhere, not yet "received." Do. Not. Wait. Not a single moment that's avoidable. #HarrisWalz2024#Arizona#USPol#vote
I leave you with a picture from my former life, aka, pre-Covid, when I was still half of a partnership and we did cool things like Halloween gatherings of our colleagues. Because what could be a more appropriate costume for my dog? 😆
Still debating best alt name for #AI. Currently favoring Adaptive Insanity. Is there an official/specialized term for #medical#racism?
"....experts said some of the invented text — known in the industry as hallucinations — can include racial commentary, violent rhetoric and even imagined medical treatments."
Ongoing quest for good writing? Recommendation below: #economics prof at Fordham Univ with an historical theme.
"... we could have skipped the tariff and paid these 1,200 workers their $40K per year salary for two years and given them a stipend of $50K to attend community college or to get training in a new technology or a stable trade. This would cost $156 million dollars in total.... one-seventh of what U.S. consumers paid as a result of the tire tariff."
