From a friend who lives near my property in #Arizona, a dangerous, destructive, incoming #DustStorm, in local terms, a haboob. They desperately need RAIN, not more dust. Wish I could share the massive amounts of rain here with them. 😔
To the #WritingCommunity and all #authors, NEVER GIVE UP. I couldn't be more proud of a former student, autistic therapist Kaelynn Partlow. Her book,"Life on the Bridge," has a 2nd Edition coming in March from HarperCollins. Expanded content & new introduction. Her parents were told she'd never read a book, forget writing. Now she has a deal with the world's second-largest publisher.
It's definitely been #MonDog! 🐾 Plus #3GoodThings: 1) I had the day off work & spent bunches of time with the boys 2) weather could not have been more perfect 3) we're getting the last, glorious days of the season I call "Payoff for Surviving Winter Above the 45th." 😆
Today's #Caturday post must be a tribute to Mr. Nosey, whom, sadly, we had to say goodbye to yesterday. Without knowing his exact beginning, he was, for sure, somewhat over 17, judging from when he joined the family as a pitiful, skinny, half-grown stray. He was a quirky cat, but always friendly to all humans, cats, dogs, and even a ferret or two. The house doesn't feel complete today without his wide-eyed stare constantly evaluating us from various perches and cubbyholes. 😢
My mom's peonies have been blooming. The stand of them has been in the same spot since I was a little girl. Two summers, now, since she left us, and these beauties always give me a strong sense of her presence.
1: I'm privileged to have a job with health insurance, but my heart breaks for those who received a death sentence today about their medical coverage. 2: I'm safe in my home, with electricity, food, & clean water, but daily I watch my fellow human citizens' access to those things dwindle to nothing. 3: I have family, dogs who love me, & good friends while many are entirely alone.
Tonight, even trying to be mindful can't mend me. 💔 😢
@hollie Seems to me a main target is authors/small publishers struggling with production expenses & tech savvy for favorable distribution. Let's face it--audio book revenue via traditional routes isn't exactly a killer money-maker for authors. A young author whose book I manage is being Amazon-wooed for this AI crap. Her print book is doing quite well, but audio simply isn't manageable yet, financially or logistically. So far I've diverted her, but pretty sure I'm going to lose in the end. 😩
#3GoodThings for today... I met a working crew who was hideously expensive, but earned every dime. They did this project with 40mph wind gusts pushing them around.
1: this 2/3 dead tree that was threatening the house is DOWN 2: nobody was hurt! 3: It might even warm up tomorrow.
I haven't been able to be online much this weekend. #Icestorms. Power outages. Cell service outages. Northern #Michigan looks like Armageddon backwash. 90% of my entire township was in the dark this morning. Yet with temps tonight forecasted to be around 15F, guess who's here with additional linemen crews?? #Canada. 😶 I am grateful. And ashamed. They are better neighbors than we are, despite everything.
Tonight's #3GoodThings and the nightly #GermanShepherd post are all in one. This book is finally done and about to be released on April 1. I'll probably have more to say about it in days to come, but that will require a thread. For this moment, a cover photo and link are enough.
1: despite ice storms (2 of them!), the power remains on 2: I saw a robin today for the first time since October. Spring must be near. 3: new book pre-orders have been moving along, which is certainly happy new for any author.
1: Deadlines have been met! 2: I don't hate the cover and don't hate TOO much of the text. 3: This impossible, endless writing project is about to be off my desk.
Tomorrow's edition will include a shot of the cover. (Pardon me if I'm overly excited about finishing a project that's been cooking for a dozen years....)
@HistoPol Yes, that's what I'm telling you. -20F isn't uncommon here. I remember much colder than that when I was a kid, but it didn't bother me then like it does now.
Author. Retired service dog exec. Equine aficionado. Critic of arrogance. Conservatism escapee. Raging introvert. Reluctant cynic who's trying to look for the upsides. Latest book: "Shepherds of Our Hearts," from Voelker Books. Publishing interests lean to education, linguistics, psychology, and realistic fiction.Won't follow accts with no bio.
