So, Kill the Lights is a completely different kind of song; trying to figure out if I like it. I think I do, but I was expecting something different. Might take me a while to get used to her voice without effects. But musically this is quite good.

(No idea if we're doing this whole album song by song here; but I've got time so I decided to start at Walking With Strangers, the album Movie is on...)

@PetterOfCats She's In Parties is excellent, but I can't say I'm a huge fan otherwise.

So now I'm either about to embark on an awesome quest because this band does a whole bunch of songs that sound like this, or going to be super disappointed because this is a one off and the rest of their catalogue is "Bauhaus but with a woman lead singer."

So, today's SotD was recommended to me by a friend I made in my replies (see it DOES happen; it's just rare!) I think it was @CosmickTrigger

It's called "Movie" by a Canadian band named The Birthday Massacre. With a name like that I wasn't really sure what to expect, probably hardcore Gothic Rock which really isn't my scene - but I finally sat down and listened to it, multiple times, and man is this some ridiculously good Dream Pop/Gothic Pop hybrid shit.

@DeliaChristina I am genuinely surprised that this works; I remember "massagers" from the 80's and they were more or less useless. But this thing slaps.

Boyfriend got me a "massage gun" and I am pretty sure I'm the only person on earth intending to use this product in a totally non-sexual manner.

(Also, fuck is it good. Like it's just a cheap plastic thing but my back is a hot mess most days and wow did using this for like 4 minutes make a big difference. I'm eloping with the massage gun...)

@pixplz That's literally the one - if you notice, there are 7 tracks not on the original pressing of Nowhere. Those are the 7 tracks. (Originally from the Fall and Today Forever EPs but those EPs were afaik, UK only releases, and aren't that easy to find. Not like Smile, which collects Ride and Play EPs and had a US release and a lter UK release too.)

@benda I'd send you my copies but I'm already the biggest drag on my admin's data expenditure by many trophic levels...

@pixplz I don't know what you're saying "what" to - that I like the 7 pre-nowhere EP tracks more than the first two songs on Nowhere, or that they exist at all?

@benda The seven tracks are from the Fall and Today Forever EPs, which unlike Smile, were not collected anywhere afaik and were UK only releases. They're titled Taste, Here and Now, Nowhere, Unfamiliar, Sennen, Beneath, and Today.

If you don't have those EPs already, you can just do your own rips by searching Youtube and plugging the links into this site:

Also, while we're on the subject:

If you ever find yourself purchasing Ride's "Nowhere" as an album, make sure you get the 2011 Re-release with 7 additional tracks and the live album. Personally I've never give a damn about live albums, but there's not a single missing in the 7 bonus tracks and there are several tracks on the album I would have replaced with bonus material if I was producing it. Jussayin.
