Only dealing with 5 bullies at work is nothing compared to the average organization but its also not the best. Encountering a few racists is far less than average but when it takes 2-3 days to recover from a #passiveaggressive #insult and it happens weekly, I have maybe one day where I am recovered and at peace. All #work is bullshit and no one has a peaceful #job so I totally get it but my #PTSD is just always on agony mode. Just one month of peace would heal me enough to go another month...

@juliehuz We may be allowed to have credit cards now but we have low limits and high interest. We also are not given enough credit to buy homes or invest in businesses. We are still to this day using mens credit and building their wealth. Once we win rights, they will do anything to limit it and benefit themselves.

Why it matters

Many white men believe that their workplace operates according to merit: that people who are better at their jobs get promoted, while those who aren’t get demoted or fired. Yet race and gender bias are startlingly common in U.S. workplaces: More than 4 in 10 women have experienced gender discrimination, and 41% of Black workers have experienced racial discrimination at some point in their careers.

My nieces and nephews who are religious and come from a conservative household are learning stuff at home and church that are extremely anti social and anti science. One thinks a church that burned down was struck by lightening because they were kind to homosexuals. Another thinks the lunar eclipse is biblical. I told them I want them to lead with science and kindness, they're too young to understand anything else.

Recessions are a wealth transfer apparatus used to steal wealth from the working class to the ruling class. There is no economic reason to create a recession regardless of the ebbs and flows of an economic climate. We are smart enough and have enough tools to understand how not to do this, duh.

If you align with the ruling class you are not progressive. If you are not pro working class, you are right wing. If you are pro #capitalist, you are right wing. Feeling a certain way and self identifying a certain way does not change the definition of #workingclass #solidarity vs ruling class alignment.

Very few Americans understand the definition of progressive, hence our slow descent more right each year. Therefore, its nearly impossible to define. Even the young are more right wing than previous generations. And what is considered liberal is very right wing.

I look at the rejection of the Affordable Care Act in the South. I look at policies that make it far easier for people to get guns and carry guns everywhere. I look at tax cuts that benefit wealthy Americans but cut roads, bridges, and schools in poor and working-class areas. Every one of those policies has been sold as a policy that will make America great again. But they have devastating consequences for working-class populations, particularly working-class white populations, in many instances

The four causes that we identify in the book are parenting, celebrity culture, media and the Internet, and easy credit. For example, with parenting, in an attempt to raise kids with self-esteem, many parents will tell their kid they're the best ever and they'll treat them like royalty, placing the child at the center of the household. In a limited way, that's fine, but it's often taken too far. When you put a kid on a pedestal, that type of parenting, it's been shown, leads to narcissism.

When people see themselves as better than you, there are tells. For example, women not men get asked about their reproductive past, present and future in interviews than men. But to add complexity, when men are asked, they are paid more if they have children or a wife. Often its also racialized where women of color will be asked their age in interviews and on the job. People who do not have entitlements don't put #WOC in this position because they don't see themselves as better. #compassion
