Look, if you want to use AI for coding, that's fine. But don't expect others to review your 💩 just because you can't be bothered to even check what the AI spits out.

That's the core of the issue and closing made total sense. Because when contributing to a community maintained project, how we participate socially matters. And AI cannot participate socially since it's not human.

I do use #AI, but I am not a dev by profession, I do review all of the code anyway and I do use the AI to build my understanding of programming - in addition to other sources.
But I also have a "fun" story of a professional dev vibecoding hashing a bunch values - the AI wrote a program which replaced the values with made up values that looked like hashes, and deployed that code. 🍿You do have a choice in how you use this tech.

@inthehands Very true. Main thing I advise Start-up clients to do is to focus on figuring out what is important now, and build the product in ways that it is kind of modular and easy to scale and extend in parts, when that time comes. This usually makes things less complex and encourages clean simple design patterns in all areas. For scaleups, I love the strangler pattern, to scale & rebuild the product bit by bit.

@Di4na @cstross @KevinMarks Don't jumble in all AI together. There have been massive productivity gains from a diverse set of AIs throughout all areas of life and industry in the past decades. Those AIs by and large where not a non specialised generative AI such as the LLMs and image generation we are seeing now. They are specialized and mostly invisible.
Talking about GenAI as "AI" as if it covered the whole field is a marketing trick. Don't help them pull it off. ;-)

@aharoni Go back to what? The Jews where uprooted, robbed and killed most places the Nazis got to, but also especially Poland. And telling people to go back to "where they came from" three generations later is also it's own racist bullshit. Most Israelis where born and raised in Israel. That is their home - for better or worse. The past happened, and we need to handle the situation as it is now.
