🤓 I have joined UPenn as an AI researcher. I was just helping out before, but it seems they like me and I think theyre pretty great too. This is quite funny if you know how cynical I actually am about AI
I am working on scientific verifiability, which I regard as one of the rare good fights in AI
If any of yall wanna talk to a hypefree human (with no patience for VCs) about what AI is *actually* capable of, hit me up
I'll never forget the way the tech industry was sacrificed to counter inflation
Nov 2022: The Fed minutes show they want increased unemployment to stop inflation (1st pic)
June 2023: Bernanke and Blanchard say the labor market will have increasing influence of over inflation, and the Fed should continue slowing the economy (2nd pic)
May 2024: Where we are now, and tech roles are still rare. The few openings that exist still receive thousands of applicants
@mekkaokereke Frederick Douglass complained about being told he must wait for coming change too. He was sick of the lie during the civil war, and still the lie persists today!
MLK was killed 100 years after Douglass complained to Lincoln about being told to wait. Rodney King, Trayvon Martin, George Floyd, all lived in a world where black people were told to wait for coming change.
Black voters are right to not trust whatever politicians say!
I keep thinking about how these two things feel so similar:
- AI tech bros trying to convince us to not worry about their amibitions because UBI will allow us to work less and get closer to utopia
- Southern elites convinced the poor white men (as in money) who fought for the confederacy by promising equality for white men
We know from southern history that the 1860's elites never did anything to elevate anyone and they even chose to destroy any attempts by USGov to help them
