Like it or not, it's easier for the users to find people than this place, and you don't have to find a decent instance to make it better. They've established a culture that blocks assholes before they can even get started.

Yes, the crypto money behind it will probably destroy it in the long run. Maybe by then the Fediverse will face up to the reasons it's not a solution for everyone, and either address them or accept that it's always going to be a niche product. (Nothing wrong with that, but I sure see a lot of people who claim to want it to get bigger.)
