Series of methods to leave the USA
Work visas. Usually you need a job offer from a foreign company. This can be more
approachable than people often assume. Not just software engineers and researchers, but
blue collar skill occupations.

The #Netherlands has been seeing a growing stream of Americans, mostly #trans people, applying for #asylum.  18 in 2023 there were 18, 9 in 2024, and 76 in 2025. The Dutch have denied 60 claims, and all others are expected to be denied. 46 Americans have been deported.
We continue to plead with #trans Americans - do not seek asylum anywhere. You will be denied, you will have trouble traveling afterwards, and you will make it more difficult for those who later have stronger claims.

Take a less attractive job outside the USA. Someone with an American accent can get a call center job anywhere.
Be careful of 'call center' type jobs where they fly you into a country with a dodgy government. Sometimes people are trafficked into call centers where they're forced to work scam calls and prevented from leaving. We can help with a sanity check before you sign anything.

We are helping a number of Somali #lesbian s. Somali culture places them in a very serious situation, subjected to FGM. A woman moving alone is liable to sexual violence with little chance of retribution to the perpetrator. Families often hunt them. Please help them. it costs us about 2500 EUR to save a life.

Standing in the bakery line at Safeway in a small town.
Old fellow, kind who has enough tools in his truck to change your engine, is in front of me.
He orders a sheet cake, and asks the worker to "put some gay stuff on it", since his son has just come out.
The worker draws a rainbow, dad picks out rainbow flags. Asks her what else is "gay".
After he leaves it takes the young baker and I a moment to stop smiling at each other.

Just had to tell a trans woman, on the run from family after violence, broke, on the streets, that I can't help.
We're so far behind it's not even fair to her to do an intake interview.
