Reading Kim Stanley Robinson’s The Ministry for the Future a few years ago, we found ourselves asking many of the same questions @alxd poses in this review about the book’s apparent warm reception in anti-authoritarian, anti-colonial circles.

Since when have we been so willing to overlook such glaring problems of positionality and misplaced trust in oppressive institutions?

Many thanks to the reviewer for bringing this work to our attention!

Greetings dear readers. After a year of vague-posting about it, we are pleased to announce our affiliation with the From The Periphery (FTP) media collective.

We are changing our profile description to reflect that we are no longer unfunded. For transparency, we are now receiving a modest monthly wage from FTP as we labor to complete a transcript archive for The Fire These Times podcast.

To support this work and the rest of FTP's excellent affiliates, please consider:

    @thefinalstrawradio

Thanks for this interview and transcript, it's very helpful!

As comrades, may we warn readers/listeners to take one grain of salt when Errico describes the Assad regime as an enemy of the Israeli state? This is not accurate, neither for Bashar nor his father. It is surely not Errico's intention, but it plays into the regime's own propaganda about itself.

If we may, some additional perspectives:

    • Elia Ayoub (he/him)

New transcript of a talk from June 2022

Elia @ayoub spoke with Nidal Bitare about:

    - Yarmouk camp in Damascus, the largest Palestinian refugee camp in the world before the Assad regime laid siege to and destroyed it

    - The legacy of Lebanese-Palestinian-Syrian leftist writer Samir Kassir, who was assassinated presumably by the Assad regime in 2005

    - The sad hypocrisy of pro-Assad politics in the movement for #Palestine

And much more. Truly a must read.

Something we hadn't expected but should have, as Assad's blood-soaked house of cards collapses in on itself, is that the fuckers who have built personal brands promoting and whitewashing this genocidal regime for a decade-plus, pushing denialist narratives cooked up in Damascus and Moscow, will try and pivot and pretend like they were with the Syrian people all along.

Do not forget or forgive these spineless, mercenary, lying human turds.

Anglophone leftists have been swallowing literal Nazi war propaganda from Rania Khalek, Max Blumenthal, Ben Norton, Aaron Maté, Vanessa Beeley, Eva Bartlett, and many others for many, many years.

We are not exaggerating. Look at this tourist photo Khalek took in 2019 and tell us she is not a craven Nazi propagandist. How many corpses is she spitting on?

And their "reporting" has been reported on plenty. They can rot, along with anyone who defends them.

"Israel and its left-wing critics [...] agree on basic facts: that Israel is ruthlessly pursuing the destruction of the Palestinians of Gaza with no regard for moral niceties or international law, and with the unapologetic belief that Jewish life is sacrosanct and Arab life is worthless."

Meanwhile, "the liberal Zionist interpretation of the conflict has no predictive value, no analytical weight, and no moral rigor."

Absolutely blistering article by David Klion, bravo.
