@kittenlikeasmallcat i dont mean to necropost but yeah i borrow some like cute images off of 4chan (green frog emotes, which are mostly used on twitch and stuff to and have been defanged) and this little anime girl i use as my pfp. and the infamous lesbian madoka picture image. ill even joke use vivian james cause i think she looks adorable even tho i hate gamergate. 'moe' stuff like that. but even though i use 4chan like once a month i wouldnt say im a channer cause of that lmao. its just a place I go sometimes to keep in mind what a very publicly accessible and widely used part of the internet is like.
but the thing is, i dropped in here only like a couple months ago, im not a regular user. I wouldn't be suprised if some other users that aren't noteworthy like me also frog post and use other memes that spawned out of 4chan but this is why i dont really understand and trust most of the people starting fights outside this space. to be scared of memes because of their 'alt right' spawn point misunderstands the universality and reappropriation of images online. people could have an avatar of trump in jail and be a leftist etc. literally hundreds of thousands of people are using these sort of symbols and images...and i guess the fear is dogwhistling but the point of this place is that it by design keeps spaces smaller and more segmented so you can pick people out of a crowd and identify that they arent a fascist way more than you would otherwise.
besides, this seems to me like a *very* outdated paranoia that doesnt map onto the reality of this space, emitted by people way too sheltered to understand how the internet is used in the margins. its very 'ex-tumblr' paranoia, and I think to some degree is a nessecary paranoia for people to hold in order to 'fit in' to larger society. its 'not like the other girls' of marginal internet use. or like a russiagate conspiracy but the people messing with you are queer weirdos...
it fucken sucks and i wish people knocked it off. when the fear of us existing as a social contagion doesnt work, they move on to looking at our everyday behaviour and say that we spread some alt right virus or something. it never ends. its just a 'new' way to update a very old lie: scapegoating.
@eris this is the transfemme social presence experience, you get punchdrunk from the constant reputation destroying firing squads of vindication and scorn, and then got 'hm its been quiet for a while (2 weeks) i wonder whats wrong' you get so use to the world condemning you that the lack thereof feels like an eerie peacetime right before an inevitable storm.
she literally wont stop talking about sh on my timeline, and flirts with anybody in a 10 follower radius of her. she probably has a bad relationship with her mom and sexualizing her own agoraphobia or something....ugh i just cant believe they let people like this get famous on fedi 🙄 . what kind of image are we sending exactly to non-users?
@Vale@eris yeah its easy to bloat this stuff out of proportion so i just want to say from a casual glance this pick me behaviour looks like some rather intense internalized trans misogyny and i hope she gets help.
@eris in the future people will realize that such habits of facial nudity did not remotely align with the rest of our cultural notions of prudity. i wear a face mask everywhere, to remind the pathogenic creatures i distrust their elements.
@eris if it was up to me, there would only be 3 shows a year for every country, and then the rest would just go to ubi or something. im all for cancelling shows. this is not because im a nice progressive person. its actually because im sick of falling behind on everything all the time and most these shows people obsess about are bad. netflix is making the right move in cancelling these shows after 2 seasons. the world should have less stuff asap.
@eris my other fav defense is 'yeah those parts are good but almost impossible to adapt to screen'. say that as a director you're bad at your job. say that as a movie watcher you havent seen a single good movie in yr life :xf_goth-nails:
@kittenlikeasmallcat@Mondobizarrro this is a really iconic list, some i seen on here i dont like, the rest are basically my favs or at least the most memorable hellscapes ive seen in watching film (looking at you martyrs)
@Mondobizarrro my fav is probably jinroh cause i like movies with molotovs and creepy masks in them.
ironically i had no idea what was going on in patlabor because it was so much exposition i just tuned out. but i think in general i think if xenofem fedi wanted to do a movie night oshii would be perfect food for it regardless.
@nyx cards on the table i haven't read naked lunch either its probably on mine and a lot of other peoples to do list. lets be real i think its just hard to finish novella length fiction after the multi media internet boom. i love all the non fiction ive read from borroughs tho, 1 of my fav conspiraboys for sure.
@nyx wow so you wanna write about a movie just because a microfamous blogger did smh clout chaser :catto:
i cant stand stuff like blade runner so any neo-noir clearly stretching the limits of its budget are my go to. this looks fresh but we will see. i reccomend Avalon and Naked Lunch (1991), also.
