@pfefferle @alex Okay so I actually did everything right, Mastodon is just like "nope"
That's a shame.
Any ideas on how I can make it work?

I'm trying to set up a #webfinger alias here:
https://standiford.us/.well-known/webfinger?resource=acct:alex@standiford.us
The intent is to use this site here:
https://www.alexstandiford.com/.well-known/webfinger?resource=acct:alex@alexstandiford.com
Ultimately I'm trying to use alex@standiford.us for my online presence and basically have that be an alias for my alex@www.alexstandiford.com.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong though - everything seems correct but Mastodon can't locate me at @alex, only @alex
Anyone have any ideas?
It is so weird though...I can't find my profile when I search for `@alex` at all
@pfefferle Maybe it just got held up in cache. I think when I do @alex it seems to work now, but it ends up changing it to `alex@www.alexstandiford.com` instead
Maybe @pfefferle
@pfefferle @cdevroe oh cool. How experimental is this? Is it in a state where I can try it out/report issues? Or is it something you’re in the midst of building/figuring out?
@cdevroe @pfefferle yes me too! My site has fully migrated all of my historical content on X and I’m working on importing Instagram. Been publishing micro content through it for years now, just haven’t actually installed ActivityPub to start using it.
Wondering how effective it would be to use this account as a proxy, boosting content from my original site exclusively, and interacting with my feed with this account. Not ideal but still progress, I think.
So I have some questions about the state of the #fediverse on #WordPress.
Is it possible to migrate this account’s followers/following to my WordPress site (assuming I’m using it as an #activityPub source)
Is it possible to actually follow people and get some kind of feed, interacting with that account with other users?
I think the answer is still solidly “no” to both of those, but it would be good to get some context on how people are dealing with this today.
@evan I don’t wanna 😂
@evan I literally can’t think of a reason for this to be a “no”
Omg. What words do I need to mute to cut back on the MM/WPE noise? This is getting out of hand.
I think the mobile app is one of the most important focuses for WordPress’ future. I’ve met many young professionals who view WordPress as “really old”. Our competitors aren’t just Wix and Squarespace - it’s TikTok, X and other mobile first publishing platforms.
@Ryanteck Yes, definitely, but even the rest of it should be a part of the mobile experience. Why shouldn’t I be able to build a website using my phone?
At WCUS, I’m connecting with Clients, Contractors, and Collaborators. Whether you're an agency needing help, a developer ready to create, or a potential partner for Siren Affiliates, let's connect.
@courtneyr @pfefferle @matthias @boogah ooh! Were we talking post formats?!
@courtneyr @pfefferle @matthias @boogah What's the "it" in question here?
Getting really tired of the doomsday content everyone’s posting about the state of the web. The big companies do not own the web. If you believe in the open web, then you know there will always be a place where real, authentic content will thrive.
There’s a vacuum right now, but that doesn’t mean it’s all gone to shit. Calm down y’all.
Why are we still missing a "remind me later" feature for text messages? I use this kind of thing all the time in both email, and instant messaging applications. Seems like a relatively small feature that would add a lot of quality of life.
Lake, Champlain, looking at the Adirondacks from Vermont. This view is from the entrance to our campground, and I can see most of it whenever I’m sitting in my camper. I Love the sunsets, but hate the mosquitoes.
haking up affiliate program management with Siren. Helping companies re-imagine pay for performance programs. Usually found in #WordPress circles. I Lived the RV-Life for 4 fantastic years.This profile is now just a proxy for my primary social - @alex. You can continue to follow this, but it's exclusively going to boost posts from my actual profile, so maybe follow that instead?
