Someone really ought to come up with a set of recommendations for what batches to make for the launch of a set. Sylveon, neocube, floof, and neobread all launched with less than 30 to get the basic idea out there. Most sets have less than 100 in their core package.
Multi-GB collections are probably not the best approach.
A slightly overdue announcement is that the froggie set now has a bunch of hugs. I don't think Froggie is a neomoji but it gets lots of hugs.
@starshine@woem.space has updated neofox_ohio to have a larger face which gives it enough room to make more faces.
We have some lovely new signs spreading. You can now label stuff you see as gay or yuri. There's also a German lesson by @graphite@shonk.phite.ro which tells us that you can't use the word "doch" unless it's in neomoji form. There's also a sign that I'm sure people will put up for me if I keep making neomoji leg variants.
Maybe we can play some wii together instead of fighting?
I shared neocat_petted before thinking it was neocat_federated. That text is small so it's an easy mistake to make. It's a video game reference so the creator is kinda locked into a specific style. Not a great design choice for making emoji though.
@puniko@mk.absturztau.be has tracked down or made another crazy long named neocat. The mixer can't make angry faces yet because angry uses a gradient on a layer it doesn't have. I hope whoever feels googly woozy angry sleepy while drool thinking feels better soon.
And to wrap things up, please enjoy some more cursed stuff. We have a low definition neocat caught in the wild by @asahi@floofy.city . @astrid@fedi.astrid.tech 's neo_caterpillar has escaped containment and become an emoji instead of just a meme image (like two months ago but I just found it now because it isn't neocaterpillar). And neocat_grimmace by @lea@lea.pet has spread to other animals and faces.
And finally, most cursed of all, neoperson by @expergetech@labyrinth.zone . Apparently, when asked what kind of furry critter they are, some answer "human". :neopossum_scream_scared:
The API should be able to handle that since it's just move y +128. I just need to make it so you can apply that to the full image instead of just individual elements.
For clarity, do you mean like how :blobbee_cat_ears: is wearing a cat ear headband or do you mean like the ears on :neofox:? There's precedent for both among neomoji so I wanted to double check.
Since the default version of neowyvern already is floody, would neowyvern_floof become even floofier or would it cancel out to become neowyvern_shaved
Note: the _bald variant is something different. Among #neomoji, _bald means everything above the curve on the top of the head is removed (ears, horns, and hat). Presumably it's to make :catears: work better on servers that have it.
I only looked for cheese specifically originally but with some expanded terms a few more emerge. A Dutch person screaming about cheese is unique to your server. You share raclette with outerheaven.club and Swiss fondue with shonk.
Blobcat nomming fondue is on the same instances that have Blobcat nomming a cheese wedge.
To those, Puniko adds Kal'tist from Arknights getting what she deserves, some kind of cheese diagram and a notification of what you're getting from this post. Lily added a blobcat eating a cheesy snack (I focus on neomoji so shockingly few instances I look at have blobcats). She also adds our corner of the fediverse's favorite kind of cheese that I'll talk about in a bit.
I'm surprised to say that my home instance is both in third place for number of cheese emoji and that we're winning for the most unique ones with six. I guess my ancestral Wisconsin heritage must have guided me to @Kitty 's server because I'm only responsible for the one created in the neomoji mixer. Chuck-e-cheese as a femboy and the German flag with cheese on it were already around when I got here. We've also got Kal'tsit and a gif of a cat sniffing a camera (which I'm guessing has cheese on it from the name).
The next one from Kitty.social is a rather widespread one where we show our cheese how much we love it with a head pat. @natty@astolfo.social, @ashten@woem.men and someone at shonk.phite.ro also give their cheese the headpats it deserves.
I am a bit worried about our cheese friends at shonk because that's also home to some pensive cheese which is always worrisome. Perhaps I should ask @privateger@plasmatrap.com to check in on shonk since those are the two servers who share a mouse-person offering their apolocheese.
And, without further adieu, the most popular form of cheese around here is clearly the cheese stick with 5 instances having this static image of them and 4 having the gif of them spinning (only 2 have both).
Oh, and @vel@gib.schmus.is has exactly one cheese. Guess what face it's making.
I've roughly doubled the number of sites I'm indexing in my quest to find interesting #neomoji. The new second place for instance with the most unique ones is mk.absturztau.be
Congrats to @puniko@mk.absturztau.be for keeping up with the slew of requests to get new emoji added!
It looks like absturztau has embraced the neomojimixer most heartily, as measured by how many emoji from there are already available. But don't think that means it's a low effort server, it's also the home of the biblically accurate neocat, a symmetrical neocat, and a ton of variants of drgn--which rarely gets attention. There's also an extension of scream that expands it to 40 something open mouth parts for monstrosities beyond imagination.
I read something a few days ago that has been nagging at me ever since. It was an explanation for why hating JoCat for that fun video became a culture war thing. It's mindblowing, obvious in retrospect, and depressing.
The primary audience for a big part of the right wing influencer-sphere is middle and high school boys on their way to incel-dom. That's how they get massive followings and thus money. Other people watch the videos and streams too and the ideas spread from those videos to social media where they eventually get into Fox News or the RNC platform but they start with adult men trying to win the approval of those boys.
That target audience needs an explanation for why girls don't like them despite how desperately they want girls to magically fix everything wrong in their lives. The hatred of women that naturally arises from that conflict becomes part of what "being straight" means to them. Unironically liking women and happily sharing that challenges that definition of straightness. To overcome that perceived threat, they latch on to the paradoxical "it's gay to like women."
Once that happens, JoCat is a popular gay man stealing women from them because he's woke. Attacking him is basically self defense because all of their problems remain since he denied them the women who could fix their lives.
I'm sure there's more to it than that but it's a pretty compelling explanation to me, even if it is a bit "For want of a nail".
Apparently someone caught notorious transphobe Helen Joyce reading a Harry Potter fanfic called "Mudblood Bitch" that ships Draco with Hermione while they're at Hogwarts. It's allegedly about the guy getting turned on by how much he hates the victim (I'm not super familiar with the franchise).
I'm no anti. If you want to enjoy that sort of fic, go for it. But maybe don't do it in large enough text on your phone in public that a fellow passenger 3 rows back on the train can make out the words clearly enough to take pictures of it. At the very least, don't do it while your day job is yelling about how the mere mention of trans people existing is grooming.
I'm a nerd who plays #Arknights and watches #anime. I'm a big fan of #StarTrek even though they canceled Prodigy. Looking for a job in data science, software engineering, or related fields. Recently started thinking of myself as a #furry.
