We had our work “summer” barbecue tonight. Everyone got three drink tokens expcept me who got 87 because the person in charge of them loves me.

(And I left early cos my folks are arriving from the UK in an hour so I gave most of them to my favourite people.)

How does my phone not let me type my husband’s actual name sometimes but allows “expcept”?

This is fun! Someone was doing a mandatory training thing at work and their computer read out a long list of slurs, and someone else put it over a beat. 🕺🏻

PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) has transformed the world. You can take a pill to prevent you from contracting HIV. It’s a total no-brainer: if you’re having sex outside of a monogamous relationship, you should take it if you can. (But bear in mind PrEP doesn’t protect you from other STIs so condoms are still a good idea.)

We could eradicate HIV transmission entirely if everyone who can protect themselves did so. In Ireland and the UK you can get it for free from the GUM clinic, there’s really no excuse not to!

Also, U=U, get tested, know your status and don’t be a dick. ✌🏻☺️

We’re big fans, but we’re not watching #Eurovision this year. Israel should not be taking part.

We didn’t watch when Israel hosted it a few years ago, and we definitely can’t justify watching them compete in a singing contest given what their army is doing to countless innocent people trapped in Gaza right at this moment. How many people will be suffering and dying while the audience cheers for Israel?

I *know* it’s not the performers murdering people, but if they’re not speaking up about it, they’re condoning it. Its propaganda. The original lyrics of their song (which were rejected by Eurovision) tell me all I need to know about their feelings about the genocide unfolding in front of us. The Israeli government does a cracking job at pink-washing their shit, and I’m not gonna support it.

I’m disappointed in Olly Alexander’s weak-ass statement, I’m disappointed Ireland is participating, I’m disgusted at the double-standard of Russia being banned but Israel not.

You may think that it’s pointless, that it won’t make any difference, that nobody in Gaza will ever know I didn’t watch. But *I* will know. I would feel complicit if I watched.

The people of Israel deserve to be safe, and they deserve justice for the attack on that festival last year. The people of Gaza do NOT deserve to be exterminated with flimsy justification because nobody wants to stand up to Israel. I can’t do much, but I can do this.

Muting the #Eurovision hashtag now, maybe things will be different next year.

@dansup Hey, can I ask why Pixelfed doesn’t allow uploading video taken on iOS devices? According to google it works if you edit a line in the .env file and so it seems like a really weird omission from the default config.
