Now he’s incredibly lethargic, doesn’t want to eat dinner, and just wants to sleep. we’re going to take him to the vet tomorrow morning, but at 14 years old, we aren’t going to do anything like surgery. He wouldn’t be able to recover. So unless the vet can fix this with a shot of some sort, I might have to say goodbye to one of my best friends of 14 years. (2/2)
I think it’s going to be time to say goodbye to my little buddy Dax soon. He’s been showing signs of decline over the last month, and then yesterday he stumbled going upstairs and then the rest of the day was very low energy. Then in the middle of the night, he had an accident and he couldn’t keep his back legs up. (1/2)
Back in the 80s I was in the audience of a show whose host can only be described as "Rush Limbaugh if he was a wrestling promoter" named Wally George. (no one took this guy seriously)
His guest this day was Rick Dees, famous Disk Jockey and creator of the hit song "Disco Duck".
There have been more then a few studies that show that people don't land on their positions because they think they are factual. They do so out of an emotional bias that they don't even understand themselves. If you want someone to change their minds, you have to deal with the emotional reason their bias exists and good luck doing that in an online forum with a philosophical topic.
And I'm not into beating my head against brick walls anymore.
I read a post on a forum yesterday. I replied giving my opinion, and then had it challenged by someone who was made a series of bad arguments showing that they really didn't understand.
In the past I would have replied back showing the flaw in their thinking.
But I didn't this time. I simply didn't reply.
"But now they will think they are right!" you might exclaim.
And to you I would ask, "When was the last time you changed someones mind with the facts and how often does that happen?".
"If a man is crossing a river and an empty boat collides with his own skiff, he will not become angry. He will simply guide his boat around it.
But if he sees a person in the boat, he will shout at the other to steer clear. If the shout is not heard, and the boats collide, he will curse the other person.
Yet, if the boat were empty, he would not be angry."
@ChrisWere Let me know if I’m wrong, but I think what you’re trying to say, (and what I think other people commenting are missing), is that if you are using someone else’s PeerTube resources that you should be mindful of the content that you upload.
And I agree wholeheartedly. It’s best practice.
However, I also think that if the PeerTube instance owner doesn’t care about what kind of space is being taken up on their instance, then it’s no big deal. 🤷
Times are tough, and they look like they're getting worse. This is a good time to check in with your friends and ask them if there's any kind of support that you can give?
Sometimes what people need the most is to know that someone else cares.
Just reach out. Call. Text. Email. Or just knock on their door. Knowing that others care can help us get through the toughest of times.
If you're going to post something political can you try posting something new, or something that hasn't been said about it before?
There are SO MANY people on here who just post "the house is on fire" when WE ALREADY KNOW THIS. It ads nothing other then to ramp up a fear about something the most if not everyone can do little to nothing about at this time.
Tell people what's being done to combat it. Add new info. Do SOMETHING other then repeat someone else's fear mongering.
