@mrcompletely @blogdiva @seitz @alisynthesis @kevin @flockofnazguls heh I got into a fight with a city councilor this weekend I said, basically, that people should have access to clean water and bathrooms, and that homeless people are people and need to exist somewhere.

He called me an anarchist.

And I said...okay yeah I'm an anarchist but these are not my anarchist opinions, these are just regular-ass opinions.

@blogdiva @mrcompletely @seitz @alisynthesis @kevin @flockofnazguls To me, anarchism is just the recognition that systems will not save us, and that when they benefit "us," they are being very selective about who "us" is, and that therefore, AS A MATTER OF SURVIVAL, we need to build our own systems that end-run government and capitalist systems as much as possible.

The purpose of government ideally is to backstop us. It is not doing that. We need to end-run it.

@blogdiva @mrcompletely @seitz @alisynthesis @kevin @flockofnazguls It isn't (necessarily) about destroying systems that are oppressing us (though it would be nice and would make a lot of this easier.) It's about realizing we need to build our own resilient communities, and the way you do that as an individual is conversations like this one.

Making friends, and connections, that are not mediated by money is a radical act under capitalism.
