@WarnerCrocker How about just remove it until they fix the issue? The app already demonstrates harm at a distribution level Apple wouldn't allow from any other platform.
They'd fix it really fast if Apple and Google prevented people from installing it.
Tech IS politics. Tim Cook manages a company that rivals small nation's economies. He's one of the most effective politicians of the modern age, and Apple pours money into marketing and lobbying efforts. Apple has tremendous influence over governments, and appeals against regulations.
Apple is a political bully and Tim Cook is a liar.

Companies like Apple spend more on stock buy backs than R&D now. Apple executives investigated by the DOJ while discussing how to slow innovation and roll back features while charging consumers more.
The iPhone Air is literally the result of that executive policy.

More of this energy please! Despite tech influencers glowing on thin phones, sales of the iPhone Air are performing below Apple's expectations and Samsung looks like they'll cancel the Galaxy S26 Edge.
I love seeing people vote with their wallets. Maybe these companies can start innovating on features again...

Microsoft trying to switch my plan again to an AI plan and hike my subscription price. Your friendly reminder that MS is burying the info on where to roll back to a "classic" plan.

Apple executives have long discussed how to slow innovation, or outright regress features, to get their customers to pay more for less.
The iPhone Air is the realization of that greed.

This is what drives me crazy about tech journalism right now. These companies demand we all have goldfish memories, so mediocre improvements can be reported on like they're impressive new features.
Case in point, all the articles talking about the "At a Glance" widget on the pixel. It's getting an UPDATE! NOW this widget can include information like stocks! WHOA!!! That's CRAZY bro! MOAR POWERFUL WIDGET!
Except, we've already had this. Google Now, back in the Android 6 days. And that assistant could also do other practical things like monitor traffic for you and tell you when you needed to leave for work.
Android 6 was ten years ago.
I'm just so tired of all the HYPE cycles on tech right now. We're really going backwards, but folks have to pretend it's SO COOL when we get a feature like this back!
@WarnerCrocker let him split the crazy vote. BIG TIME Reform party energy on these threats. 😄
@WarnerCrocker Ooof what if our tasks and reminders apps did recaps like our photo apps?
"Hey! Remember that time you remembered to buy blackberries! That was pretty great! We pinned another reminder to remind you about remembering it! Well done!"
@WarnerCrocker Did you remember blackberries? Pepperidge Farm (and Apple) remembers!
A quick little proud poppa moment.
The setup and the result. 😊

@GottaLaff I've muted more instances today than I have in months...
@georgetakei I hate how much I like that joke. 😄
The next fight isn't "Who Replaces Biden on the Ballot".
The next fight is handling dozens of bogus lawsuits from the Heritage Foundation. They will try state by state (especially in swing states) to make it as difficult as possible to replace Biden on the ballot.
It does not matter if they have a real legal claim. The point is making this election as chaotic as possible, and we can be pretty sure which way the courts will swing if these challenges travel high enough up on appeal.
They're going to play dirtier than we've ever seen before.
I'm tired of winning moral victories. This is an actual fight we can't afford to lose.
Holy Crap. Biden is pulling out.

It just clicked in my brain. What I haven't been able to articulate about why I'm so anxious about #Windows Recall. I'm sure others have already gotten to where I am.
It's worse than "a system that tracks everything you do" and stores that info in a basic database that could be easily compromised.
It's worse than a nanny surveillance tool for companies to spy on their employees.
It's inescapable.
It doesn't matter if I make a dozen "how to disable recall" tutorials. The second YOUR data shows up on someone ELSE'S screen, it's in THEIR recall database.
It won't matter if you're a master #security expert specialist. You can't account for EVERY other computer you've ever interacted with. If a family member looks up an old email with your personal data in it, your data is now at risk.
If THEIR system is compromised YOUR data is at risk.
I just went from "vague feeling of unease" to "actively writing templates to canvas elected officials, regulators, and attorneys general."
@tokyo_0 Yeah. I stopped paying for google cloud. We still need Office, so I have a bucket on onedrive to send files to people, but for all our daily driver data, I'm using a NAS.
